Sinsel’s on the move

Prayer

This is just some thoughts as I have been reading a book called Red Moon Rising.  The book is about how the 24-7 prayer movement got started.  I am amzed at myself, in the fact that I do not pray like I should. As I read this book I am stirred over and over again by the need to be on my face before God and challenge others to do the same.  How do we stop our lives to pray?  I don’t think it’s a matter of stoping the events of the day in order to pray.  I believe our attitude determines our desire. The prayer that I pray as drive by an accident is just as important as spending hours before the Lord. The problem is our inability to see opportunities to call ont he name of the Lord.  The book has a challenging perspective on focused prayer rooms (and they are needed).  I struggle more with the everyday worship that God has called us to.  If we do not catch the Kingdom around us, how are we ever to see into the Spiritual realm in which it originated.  God has to stir our hearts to see Him at work right now.  We have to be willing to see things the way God see’s, love the way God loves people, forgive the way God has forgiven us, listen to people who feel like they don’t matter, act justly in every situation (even when nobody’s watching), serve, be holy as He is holy (what does that mean?).  Only the Spirit of God can do that in our lives, but it all starts with prayer. I don’t mean the grocery list of things we want God to do for us, or even our prayers of God blessing our efforts, but the prayers that stretch our faith, the prayers that challenge the forces of the devil, that rebuke the stronghold that the enemy has on certain areas of our own lives, prayers that burn deep down inside that we don’t even know how to put words to, prayers that unite the church and prayers that challenge our selfish motives.  We need to be banging on the doors of heaven out of a sheer need to see God move in the life of the church our families and in the world.  We need hearts that are pliable and the only way that takes place is through our desire to hear God speak.
